Eric F. Kohn TD VR is the Chairman and Founding Partner of Barons Capital Partners, with more than 36 years’ experience in all disciplines of corporate finance, industrial marketing, manufacturing and management in Europe and the USA, as well as aerospace. He started his career with Sulzer AG in Switzerland and continued with Lucas (Aerospace) GmbH in Munich, Germany before founding his own group of companies with plants in Germany and the USA, specialising in industrial automation.

At Barons Capital Partners, he has originated and executed a wide variety of transactions across a diverse range of sectors including healthcare, aerospace and defence, aviation support services, transport and industrials. He successfully restructured and turned around Holmes Protection Group, a US-based security company facing imminent bankruptcy. He has also served in Board-level executive capacities to lead the successful turnarounds of OmniLabs Group, a medical diagnostics provider, and dba, the former German subsidiary of British Airways.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Avcorp Industries Inc., a publicly listed Canadian aerospace manufacturer, from November 2004 to June 2017. He acted as financial adviser to Intro Aviation in its acquisition of the airlines CityJet Ltd and VLM Airlines N.V. from Air France-KLM, and was a Member of the Board of Directors of VLM Airlines N.V. from April 2014 to May 2016.

Eric F. Kohn TD VR is a Swiss and UK citizen who is fluent in French and German and has a good understanding of several other European languages. He spent over 30 years as a reserve officer with the British Army’s Airborne Forces, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has multi-engine pilot’s licence with an instrument rating. He is a Graduate of Glasgow University, a Liveryman of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners. He is a Freeman of the City of London and of the City of Glasgow and was a Trustee of Veteran’s Aid, a UK charity for ex-Servicemen, for ten years. He is Chairman of The Royal British Legion Swiss Branch.

Peter Sorby attended Oxford Brooks University and Nottingham Trent University studying accountancy, leading to his qualification as a Chartered Certified Accountant.

He has in-depth experience in Finance and General Management as well as Accounting, Tax Compliance & Structuring, Air Operations, Aviation Regulatory Requirements, Business Transformation & Strategy, with a focus on the aerospace, aviation & airlines, real estate, engineering, and the high-tech computer industries.

He benefits from extensive Board-level CFO & CEO experience in aviation, both fixed and rotary wing & support services, in both passenger and freight services, including executive jet operations at Gama Aviation, leading to a third party acquisition and its float on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

Peter Sorby was previously CEO of Air Foyle Group, where he set-up other airlines including Color Air (Norway), Airworld, Air Scandic & Flying Colours (UK). He also set-up and operated 16 cargo jet aircraft for TNT in Europe as well as 50% of the world’s fleet of heavy lift Antonov 124 aircraft on worldwide operations, and was appointed Main Board Director of CityJet when Air Foyle became the majority shareholder of the Irish carrier.

He successfully led the buyout of British International Group from CHC by raising GBP 35 million in equity from 3i and bank debt. The company operated scheduled services & services for UK military in the UK and Falkland Islands, UK Police, H M Revenue and Customs, QinetiQ, BBC as well as for several major oil companies, where he served as Financial Director & Deputy MD, managing 170 staff. He led the process of acquiring Veritair Aviation and headed the sale process, due diligence and negotiations at senior management level, which resulted in the successful divestment of the British International Group, providing substantial returns to the private equity investors.

Throughout his career he has provided Board-level business consultancy services to numerous international companies, including more recently the Portuguese helicopter and fixed wing operator, Heliportugal, where he also acted as interim CFO.

He is a qualified FCCA, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and is a UK citizen.

Luis Weyrich joined Barons Capital Partners in May 2022.

Prior to joining Barons Capital Partners, Luis was a Business Developer at Insula Investment Management, an investment fund focused enabling wider access to diversified funds in decentralised finance markets, located in London, UK.

In-depth experience in client-facing roles, successfully closing several deals in various industries.

Sector experience includes FinTech, consumer finance and real estate.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from King’s College London.

He undertook his Swiss military service with the Infantry in the Canton of Neuchâtel, occupying the post of Company Accountant, effectively in charge of the finances of a company of 200 soldiers.

Paul holds a MSc from Cranfield University School of Aeronautics, UK and a BSc (with Honours) from Nottingham University, UK.

Paul is an experienced Chief Executive, backed by over 30 years of international sales and aftermarket experience with progressive accountability at Airbus, BAe Systems Commercial Aircraft and most recently at US MRO Certified Aviation Services (CAS).

At Airbus, where Paul worked for 18 years, he was Head of Airbus Field Service Worldwide, based in Toulouse, France, followed by Senior Vice President Customer Services for the Americas, based in Virginia, USA, he was also a Board Member of Airbus Americas, Airbus Americas Customer Services & Satair USA.

He took on the role of President & CEO of US MRO Certified Aviation Services (CAS) in California, in 2020 during the CV-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, where Paul diversified revenue sources, annual revenues tripled, and percentage profitability doubled. His final task was to prepare the company for sale working with Private Equity firms, and CAS was sold in June 2024.

Paul also worked for BAe Systems Commercial Aircraft for 12 years in various roles, notably as Aircraft Sales Director and Contract Negotiator.

Paul is a UK citizen and speaks English and French.

Paul Wilkinson qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and subsequently completed post graduate studies at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

He has held senior finance roles in a number of major multinational companies across a wide variety of geographies and industries, including IWG plc (formerly Regus plc) (UK), Eaton Corp (USA), Maus Frères SA (CH), and Merck KGaA (DE).

Paul has extensive experience in all areas of corporate finance including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, funding, and investment management.

Marco Stegmaier joined Barons Capital Partners in March 2023.

Prior to joining Barons Capital Partners, Marco was a Director and Head of Switzerland at TRX, a Global Boutique Merchant Bank specialising in M&A advisory, restructuring and project finance, and a Relationship Manager to UHNWI Executives and Entrepreneurs at Credit Suisse in Zurich. Before that, he was a Business Manager at UBS UHNWI solutions in Zurich, led the Sales & Operations at CASS Consultancy Society in London, UK, and was a Business Development and Sales Assistant at SAFEmine AG in Zug and in Brisbane, Australia.

His sector experience includes Energy and Transportation Infrastructure and Technologies, Venture Capital, and Wealth Management, and he disposes of in-depth experience in Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, Project Management, Project Finance, as well as Sales & Marketing.

Marco obtained his Master’s in Management from CASS Business School, University of London, UK, and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Finance from the University of Zurich, Switzerland.

A chartered accountant with extensive international experience in developing and financing projects. An expert in District Energy as a Utility Business. Responsible for over $4 billion in debt, equity and bid transactions, Tim specialises in strategic planning, financial modelling, risk management, funding and commercial agreements.
 
Tim’s long professional career successes range across Corporate Finance, Fund Creation & Management, Venture Capital, Fundraising and M&A, and his industry expertise includes District Energy as a Utility Business, Waste-to-Energy Systems, Recycling, Health Care, Public Companies and Government.
 
Tim joined Barons Capital Partners, as a Senior Adviser, in 2023, bringing along his wealth of knowledge, technical expertise and international work experience. 
 
Before that, Tim was the Founder, CEO of Chescor Group, a boutique investment bank, successfully operating in fund management, structuring and promoting 13 international investment funds and raising over $750 million. In the 1990s, Chescor’s currency funds were top European performers, on a risk-adjusted basis, as funds under management rose from $1 million to $300 million. In the Corporate Finance and M&A sectors, Tim originated the £40 million merger between two LSE-listed companies Beckenham plc and Bardsey Plc and advised on the hostile takeover and subsequent rescue of Holmes Protection, Inc. (a US security business, listed on LSE). Holmes was later sold for $143 million to Tyco.
 
Tim sold the fund management businesses in 1998 and retained the corporate finance business, which became the Chescor Capital Group, operating in Dubai, Abu Dhabi & London. As the Group’s CEO, he delivered corporate & project finance services, specialising in the Middle East and India. 
 
As the non-executive Chairman of Chescor Capital Offsets Fund, Abu Dhabi, Tim created, structured and launched this innovative venture capital fund, raising capital from 8 major defence contractors (including Boeing, Eurocopter and Lucent Technologies) to satisfy their obligations under the UAE’s Offset Program. 
 
After divesting his interests in the Chescor Capital Group, he operated as an independent project adviser, offering services including strategy advice, planning, debt & equity, financing presentations, commercial agreement structuring and risk management, notably in construction in the UAE, recycling and waste management for a large UK municipality and a major infrastructure city regeneration project in Saudi Arabia. 
 
In 2013 he founded International Project Developers, which provides comprehensive services to master developers and project sponsors, including feasibility studies, technical and commercial due diligence, market assessments, financial modelling, scenario analysis, optimisation, tariff setting, industry regulation, corporate & capital structuring and risk assessment, principally for District Energy projects.  
 
He is also a Director of Industrial Energy Pioneers, advising major industrial companies on energy efficiency and decarbonisation, and obtaining UK Government grants for eligible projects.
 
Tim has also been a non-executive Director for two public companies, All About Brands plc, a marketing & communications firm, and Noventa, a tantalum mining company in Mozambique listed on AIM and TSX, where he was Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee. 
 
Tim’s key career milestones include: 
 

– 25-years’ experience in developing and financing District Cooling projects and companies:

  • Advised on financial & commercial aspects of District Cooling for over 1 million tons in the last 10 years. 
  • Financed a further 50 District Cooling projects and companies with capex of over $ 2.5 billion.
– Originated a $ 450 million Mandatory Convertible Sukuk issue – an Islamic equity instrument.
– Originated and led 8 other syndicated debt and capital market issues, raising over $ 1 billion. 
– Originated £40 million merger between two public companies on the London Stock Exchange.
– Advised on the creation of 12 significant joint ventures in 7 countries. 
 
Tim is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a UK citizen and resides in England.

David obtained his Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and went on to successfully complete his Degree in Veterinary Anaesthesia from the University of Liverpool, UK.

He has been a self-employed veterinarian & public health consultant for over 25 years, with more than 45 years of professional experience in clinical veterinary practice, post-graduate education, R&D, Government Services, International Legislation, Industry and Overseas Aid, and his competences extend, among many others, into specialising in Veterinary Public Health, Quality Control, R&D, Biosecurity and Diagnostics, with a broad cross-sectoral expertise in working and consulting for private and public companies, Government bodies and NGOs.

Over his long-standing career, David has also gained a broad experience in the conceptualisation, design and implementation of projects, including design, budgeting, planning, SOPs, training modules, auditing and reporting, and has exported his expert knowledge to working in post-conflict developing countries in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and The Middle East, delivering targeted food & health and safety aid to rural communities for the improvement of the local economies.

David has been heavily involved in the use of renewable energy in establishing decentralised and off-grid applications for water treatment and the provision of power supplies to remote locations, e.g. villages, medical clinics, satellite laboratories, mobile and static medicine and vaccine stores, much of which was in developing parts of the world. However, renewable energy is equally topical in developed countries as more countries, and organisations, move toward “net zero” carbon neutrality and to controlling energy costs. David’s experience relates primarily to biomass, photovoltaic and wind and hydro-power generation.

He is a Subject Matter Expert in Border Controls Implication and Management, Food Hygiene & Safety, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), sustainable development goals and ONE HEALTH, an integrated, unifying approach to balance and optimize the health of people, animals and the environment, and representing the disease interphase between human and animal health (Zoonosis).

David is a member of numerous associations including The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS); British Veterinary Association (BVA); Afghanistan Veterinary Association (AVA); Veterinary Public Health Association (VPHA) and The Royal Scottish Agriculture Association.

Chris Simpson has 30 years’ experience as a CFO, board member and senior executive of airlines and MRO businesses in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, and Europe.

During his career Chris has been involved with private equity, public company and State owned businesses. He has extensive experience of fund-raising for businesses in start-up, expansion and restructuring phases, and asset based financings through leasing or structured debt. At Flybe he was involved in its London premium stock market listing.

Most recently Chris has been CFO at Aurigny, an airline owned by the government of Guernsey.

Operating his own consultancy, Chris has advised on aviation activities including private business jets and access by air to remote locations.

A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Glasgow University.

Having learned to fly in the University Air Squadron, he has a pilot’s licence with instrument rating and continues to fly multi-engine aircraft and floatplanes.

Mike Creed holds an MBA in Business Development from Guildford College and began his career in the Aviation Industry in 1969 in the UK, and has since worked exclusively for Aerospace Manufacturers or Distributors including Cessna, Piper, Dornier, Robinson Helicopters, Agusta Westland, MD Helicopters, Embraer, Gulfstream, etc., before becoming an independent contractor and founding several of his own businesses.

He notably established the “Harrods” aircraft sales division in Luton, UK, as part of the famous “Harrods” Group and set-up the first Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) operation in Qatar, and 3 other such operations in the UK.

Mike Creed also ran the MD Helicopter, Swearingen SJ30 Light Jet distributions in Dubai, UAE, where he was based for 12 years and in Beijing, China, where he resided and worked for 5 years.

In 2006 he founded his own Aviation Consultancy Company and has been assisting Airlines, Aviation and Aerospace companies in streamlining and improving their business operations, as well as restructuring and turning-around distressed corporations.

He very successfully contracted as CEO for a Government listed Aviation Company in China, as well as having been an AOC nominated postholder for MRO & FBO facilities, amongst many other assignments.

In parallel to his busy and successful consultancy work, Mike Creed branched out into the technologies of unmanned aerial solutions and drones, again establishing his own company and setting-up a joint venture with Three Tis, a drone supplier to the Government of Malaysia, and official distributor for Schiebel in Malaysia.

He has extensive knowledge of running aviation companies, including turning-around distressed corporations at executive level, with in-depth expertise in the financial, commercial and technical aspects of business management, as well as in the technologies of unmanned aerial solutions and drones.

One of his corporations was recently appointed to assist the Malaysian and Indonesian Robinson helicopter distributor “Jag Helicopters” to expand their business.

Mike Creed previously held a commercial pilot’s licence (CPL) with multi engine instrument rating (IR) and was an FAA instructor. He is also a P1 helicopter pilot and a drone pilot and sits on the main committees of ASBAA (Association of Business Aviation Asia) as well as MSAF (Malaysian Sport Flying Association) and is a member of the Drone Pilots Association of Malaysia.

Born in Malaysia, where he currently resides, he is a UK citizen and speaks fluent English, with good knowledge of French, German and Bahasa (Malaysia).
